Global Mentoring Solutions Launches Academic Services Division, Industry Veteran Don Whitty to Drive Initiative

Columbia, Maryland - Global Mentoring Solutions, a leading provider of Web-based learning and performance support, is expanding with the launch of a new Academic Services division, which will take the company's widely popular real-time mentoring and lab solutions to the academic market. Don Whitty, a twenty-plus year veteran of the education industry, has been named vice president of the new division.

Global Mentoring Solutions is the fast-growing training and performance support provider whose LiveTutorTM (formerly Real-Time MentoringTM) and Real-Time LabsTM solutions are being implemented at corporate, government and education organizations around the world. Livetutor recently received CompTIA's Award for Excellence in Product Innovation.

Whitty is a respected leader among academia across North America, including the Association of Canadian Community Colleges and the Canadian National Research Council. As department head of Learning Technologies for New Brunswick Community College (Miramichi), he is recognized for establishing the Centre of Excellence for advanced training technologies. He is also credited with starting the community's Distributed Learning Centre, further contributing to the growth of the region's training industry.

In the corporate sector, Whitty served as president for a number of blended learning and education technology companies. Accolades include the Community IT Hero Award from the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC), and a listing in Peer Resource's Mentor Hall of Fame. He is a noted speaker throughout North America and the United Kingdom on issues regarding technology and new media learning.
